Abstract
As we age, we tend to suffer intellectual and cognitive deterioration, as well as constant forgetfulness,
disorientation and decrease in our own judgment. This is what we can call dementia, and although these type
of degenerative diseases are not exclusive of a certain age; they are more common in older people. In this
way, we will focus on these, not for their longevity, but considering their possible tendency to physical and/or
mental decline.
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest mistakes in dealing with the elderly is to group them according to the only
thing they have in common, their age, and believe that from a certain point, we have a monolithic
group. Consequently, there is a high percentage poorly localized people that deteriorates rapidly, being in
places where they do not belong.
When a person is diagnosed with dementia, it is necessary that their habitat is safe and provides a feeling of
home to avoid stress. Nevertheless, how to avoid it looking like a room in a residence or hotel? How to
prevent the feeling of living in an institution?
With this brief investigation, we will seek to establish a classification, if not clear, logical, of the adequate
housing structures for a stable environment.
