Abstract
By means of this project, a design of a compact antenna based on SIW technology is proposed. Besides the main purpose of this thesis, the project also brings the opportunity to get familiarized with "Pathwave Advanced Design System" software, a very powerful tool for antenna and microwave circuit design and simulation. The obtained antenna has been designed with the aim to cover the 2.4GHz - 2.5GHz band. SIW technology began to be used by the end of the XX century. It simply consists on integrating a waveguide into a dielectric substrate. With the aim to preserve the great power capacity of the wave guides, SIW technology appeared so that they permit to get easily integrated on planar circuits. Throughout this project, a comparative study between a standard waveguide WR340 and two SIW circuits with substrate of high and medium permeability, respectively, is proposed. The chosen substrate is a key factor so that the specifications proposed to perform the antenna are well satisfied.
