El silencio del espacio urbano: Valparaíso: las formas de la trama urbana

Abstract

Valparaíso es una ciudad-puerto que ha crecido principalmente mediante acciones particulares superpuestas, en un territorio cuyo relieve guía a asentarse manteniendo su criterio formal. Ciudad de diálogo vertical, que a medida crece, se apropia de los cerros altos. Allá, en la altura, proliferan silenciosamente las casas siguiendo un lenguaje entre vecinos en armonía con la pendiente del territorio, crecimiento silencioso que retumba cuando se vuelve denso en busca de pertenecer a la trama urbana.Esta investigación de carácter morfológico busca comprender mediante la lectura y redibujo de planos, cómo los habitantes han logrado habitar la pendiente y cuáles son los criterios que arman la trama urbana y su periferia efímera, repensar los límites de la ciudad y cómo se consolidan aquellos cerros que construidos precariamente dejan huellas que desvelan formas de construir los barrios.La lectura del territorio permite comprender que el crecimiento autogestionado en los cerros altos se da siempre desde un arriba, desde el eje de cima, es desde aquí que el asentamiento se despliega hacia los fondos de quebrada de la manera más leve y flexible posible debido a la condición del relieve.

Valparaíso is a port city that has grown mainly by superimposed private actions in a territory whose topography guides to settle maintaining its formal criteria. A City of vertical dialogue, that as it grows, appropriates the high hills. There, in the height, the houses proliferate silently following a language between neighborhouds in harmony with the slope of the territory, silent growth that echoes when it becomes dense in the search of belonging to the urban fabric. This research of morphological character seeks to understand through reading and redrawing maps, how the inhabitants have managed to inhabit the slope and what are the criteria that put together the urban plot and its ephemeral periphery, we want to rethink the limits of the city and how those hills are consolidated, even thought the houses are built precariously they leave the traces that reveal ways to build neighborhoods.!e reading of the territory allows us to understand that the self-managed growth in the high hills always occurs from the top, from the axis of the top, it is from here that the settlement is deployed towards the bottoms of the gulch in the slightest and most flexible way possible due to the condition of the relief.
