dc.description.abstractThe thesis "Powering a vessel in a seaway" is an introduction to methodology used by Naval Architects to predict the total hydrodynamic resistance of a vessel underway. The thesis starts breaking down the total resistance in its different components and having a look into each of its contributors. Since, one of the main contributors is the added resistance in waves, the thesis includes a chapter solely dedicated to this interesting phenomenon. Finally, the thesis ends with a chapter entirely dedicated on the methodology of predicting the added resistance.
