Dynamic model for axial motion of horizontal pelton turbine and validation in actual failure case
(2020-01-01)
Article
Open AccessPelton turbines are important machines for power generation from a renewable energy source such as water. For power rates below 20 MW, the rotor of Pelton turbines is usually in horizontal position. Considering ideal ... -
Improvement of cavitation mass transfer modeling by including Rayleigh–Plesset equation second order term
(2020-06-03)
Article
Restricted access - publisher's policyThe current study evaluates the effect of taking into account the second order term of the Rayleigh– Plesset equation for the numerical simulation of cavitation with homogeneous mixture models. For that, the corrected ... -

Experimental investigation on synthesis, characterization, stability, thermo-physical properties and rheological behavior of MWCNTs-kapok seed oil based nanofluid
(2019-03-01)
Article
Open AccessSeveral researchers devoted their efforts for the thermal conductivity enhancement of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) based nanofluids as CNTs have excellent thermal properties. However, limited research is reported on the detailed ... -
Assessment of RANS turbulence models and Zwart cavitation model empirical coefficients for the simulation of unsteady cloud cavitation
(Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2019-11-26)
Article
Open AccessThe numerical simulation of unsteady cavitation flows is sensitive to the selected models and associated parameters. Consequently, three Reynolds Average Navier-Stokes (RANS) turbulence models and the Zwart cavitation model ... -
Synchronous condenser operation in Francis turbines: Effects in the runner stress and machine vibration
(Elsevier, 2020-02-01)
Article
Restricted access - publisher's policyReactive power shortage is one of the current issues that endanger the stability of the power grid systems. Some massive blackouts have been experienced in the past years due to the unbalance of reactive power. One of the ... -
