Within the last few decades, it has been produced a profound change in the air travel market, which is largely a result of the various changes that have occurred in the airline industry such as the emergence of new models of airlines. Furthermore, the popularization of new information and communication technologies affected the interaction between service providers and clients. Due to the application of modern technologies, it is easier for tradesmen to implement pricing policies. In turn, customers acquire a tool for comparing prices, which aids them in selecting the most advantageous offer from their point of view. This ease of consultation in the prices of air tickets, at the moment it becomes a question in sizeable quantities, doesn't remain unrestricted and therefore has an economic cost (very high number of searches, the websites offering this service start charging for consultations) or either a cost of time (working with these amounts of information and consult it, converts it in a rather slow process). This necessity for having these prices updated is one of the requirements that has in its daily operation Waynabox, a company that offers to its customers travel packages with an open destination tickets and hotel included. In this undergraduate thesis, we are going to perform an extensive study trying to answer the following question: What is the suitable time (how many weeks in advance) to purchase any air ticket with a fixed date and destination? This study will allow us to understand the evolution of the market price of airline tickets and to, in a second phase of the project, design and implement using Matlab, a theoretical model that prioritizes search prices of tickets according to their proximity to the flight date and fit it within a threshold price set by the company. Finally, we perform a test of the program in a real environment in order to check the validity of the thesis.
