dc.description.abstractThis paper presents experimental results concerning the influence of drying and compaction on the small strain shear modulus (G0) of samples of a Boom clay reconstituted in the laboratory. For that purpose, samples of Boom clay were prepared by static compaction at different initial water contents and void ratio and further left to air dry in various short periods. After every drying stage, the samples were packed at vacuum and left to equilibrate during 15 days. Then G0 values were obtained from measurements in the resonant column device at 100 kPa of confinement pressure. The results evidence the increase in G0 as the water content and void ratio reduces. The influence of initial water content and initial void ratio on the G0 value is finally discussed.
