dc.description | The goal of the PFC is to do a step forward in the state of the art of differential temperture sensors, incorporating a self calibration circuit that allows an easy plug-and-play of these sensors in a built-in test environment. |
dc.description.abstract | The goal of this project is to present a new differential temperature sensor architecture that can digitally compensate for the thermal offset. First, the sources of thermal offset and its implications in temperature measurements are discussed. Measurements performed on a 0.35um CMOS differential temperature sensor are presented to illustrate the discussion. Second, dependence of NMOS transistor with temperature is measured in order to substitute the old BJT transistor for other one of NMOS technology. Then, an automatic calibration procedure and the new sensor topology is presented. With this new topology, not only the thermal offset can be digitally calibrated, but the combination of the digital code that compensates the offset and the analog sensor output voltage widens the application field of differential temperature sensors, being now suitable for use in measurements where both wide input range and high differential sensitivity are required. |
