dc.description.abstractThis report summarizes the results obtained during a four month-long internship at the Fluid Dynamics Laboratory at MIT. The work presented here is a result of the joint effort of Victor Prost and myself. During these four months we had the opportunity of working on diverse topics, from developing a high-precision experiment to creating stunning videos of bouncing drops with a high-speed video camera. This variety has allowed us to get a wide perspective on the daily life of a researcher. We present here the main scientific results that we obtained in this period. We consecrated the first part of this period to fluid visualization. Two main experiments were developed; these are presented and described hereafter. An important part of our time was dedicated to the Dynamics of a forced Soap Film. The results and strategies we carried on to understand the underlying mechanics are presented here. Towards the end of our research period I had the opportunity of concentrating my efforts in analyzing a new analog of the Casimir effect, whereas Victor developed a more refined modeling of the Soap Film through CFD. An annex includes an user-friendly Bouncing Droplets Demonstrator we developed to show the richness of the Hydrodynamic Quantum Analogs field.
