dc.description.abstractThis paper concers the design and present results of a CPFSK optical receiver for a 2.5 Gbit/s coherent system operating at 1.55 ¡.¡m. The received CPFSK modulated signal is converted into the electrical domain by means of optical mixing at photodetection. This is implemented by a balanced configuration in arder to obtain the optimum profit of the optical power, reducing the local oscillator intensity noise. Next, it is electrically amplified, demodulated and digitally regenerated.
