dc.description.abstractThe energy will play a big role in the future. Energy projects are necessary for the advance in the society, and to improve the situation we have generated. This project gives accurate knowledge about the actual outdoor illumination situation and also will guide the reader in the new technologies that has relation with street lighting. To be success in this project it was necessary to find a system that will reduce the energy consumption without increase the investments cost. Along the project in the firsts chapters theoretical information will get you involve in the lighting world. After you are involved, a description of contemporaneous lighting options, will show the real opportunities right now: - New conventional lamp posts. - Lamp posts in combination with solar energy. - Dynamical lighting system. - Occupancy sensing. - LEDS After, explained the actual lighting options, the project focus in the replacement of Stadskanaal. Study and discuss with companies and the feedback group make us to decide to create some points to be followed for the community if they are interested in an efficient replacement: - Use PL-L when TL and SOX lamps need to be replaced in urban area. - Use SON lamps for the replacement in rural areas. - Use the dim technology in urban and rural areas during the night. - In rural area where to many lamp posts are implemented, replace the 50% of the lamps for LED’s orientation systems. The last part of the project unites interesting lighting ideas for a not far away future. - LED’s in lamp posts. - Conventional light in combination with LED’s. - Solar energy in LED’s lamp posts. - Monitoring Dimming. In the conclusion we demonstrate to Stadskanaal, that a better lighting system with a reduction of around the 25% in the energy and also earning around 9.000€ per year is possible. This system will not decrease the actual light quality and will give to the citizens the safety feeling that only the light can generates.
