Abstract
A numerical simulation of the radial outflow between two parallel concentric disks has been carried out by means of the numerical resolution of the Navier-Stokes and continuity equations in a three dimensional unstructured spatial discretization under conservative schemes. Velocity-pressure coupling is solved with a classical fractional step projection method, while specific Large Eddy Simulation (LES)turbulence models are applied to spatially filter velocity field. The numerical results presented are focussed on a wide range of Reynolds numbers, diameter ratio and plate separation values. The final objective of the present paper is to numerically observe the forces caused by the radial flow phenomena and its turbulen behaviour.
