Aquest grup integra 4 línies de recerca que vénen col·laborant en els últims anys, i que tenen en comú la seva relació amb la tecnologia nuclear i les bases que la sustenten. Les línies són: la termohidràulica i seguretat nuclear, la tecnologia de la fusió nuclear, la física nuclear experimental, i la instrumentació nuclear. L'activitat científica està orientada a la consolidació i millora de les competències en l’àmbit de la simulació de centrals nuclears per analitzar de forma independent possibles escenaris a les centrals del nostre país, participar en els avenços en el camp de la seguretat nuclear, l'estudi de la tecnologia de la fusió nuclear, i a la obtenció de dades nuclears d’utilitat per aconseguir millorar el coneixement del cicle del combustible nuclear durant l'operació de les centrals nuclears i en la transmutació de residus radioactius, l'estudi de les propietats de diversos nuclis atòmics sota l’acció dels neutrons, i el desenvolupament mètodes i instruments científics.
