Estudio, Diseño y Simulación de una Pantala de Vuelo Principal (PFD) para el Simulador de Aviónica de una Cabina de DC-9

Abstract

Framed inside the future task set defined by the Project "Design and planning of an avionics system and flying simulator in DC-9", you might find block 4 titled "Digital display of parameters", where steps to include digital data inside the aeronautical cockpit are defined. Within this context, this Final Project is started with the objective to begin the processes that will carry out the digitalization of the DC-9 cockpit, located at the INS Illa Dels Banyols. First of all, an introduction to the flying cockpit of the DC-9 and to the previously defined flying simulator project wil be featured, breaking down the project objectives and specifying the required process diagram to achieve the established results. Coming up next, we will introduce the reader into the basic concepts belonging to glass cockpits, with particular emphasis on the available instrumentation. In order to reach that, a general architecture of the cabin will be defined and the distribution of the main information panels will be detailed. Later on, the study will be focus on the Primary Flight Display (PFD), highlighting the data type to visualize and their behavior depending on flying conditions. This study will allow, later, to develop the required software so that include the visual information into the TFT screen simulated and purchased. Finally, a market analysis to select the most suitable hardware for the designed system will be started and we will proceed to the programming of the combination simulator-pfd display, ending the document with the final conclusions and some proposals for future improvements.

Enmarcado dentro del conjunto de tareas futuras definidas por el proyecto “Diseño y planificación de un simulador de aviónica y vuelo para una cabina de DC-9”, se encuentra el bloque 4 de título “Visualización digital de parámetros”, donde se recogen las pautas a seguir para incluir información digital en la cabina aeronáutica. Dentro de este contexto, se emprende el presente Proyecto Final de Carrera con el objetivo de iniciar los procesos que llevarán a cabo la digitalización de la cabina aeronáutica del DC-9, emplazada en el INS Illa Dels Banyols. En primer lugar, se presentará una introducción a la cabina de vuelo del DC-9 y al proyecto simulador de vuelo previamente definido, desglosando los objetivos del proyecto y especificando el diagrama de procesos necesarios para obtener los resultados establecidos. A continuación, se introducirá al lector en los conceptos básicos relativos a cabinas de vuelo digital, haciendo especial mención a la instrumentación disponible. Para ello, se definirá la arquitectura general de la cabina y se detallará la distribución de los principales paneles de información. Acto seguido, se centrará el estudio en la Pantalla de Vuelo Principal (PFD), destacando el tipo de datos a representar y su comportamiento según las condiciones de vuelo. Este estudio permitirá, posteriormente, desarrollar el software necesario para incluir esta información visual en la pantalla TFT simulada y adquirida. Por último, se iniciará un estudio de mercado para seleccionar el hardware más adecuado para el sistema diseñado y se procederá a la programación del conjunto simulador-pantalla pfd, terminando el documento con las conclusiones finales y algunas propuestas para futuras mejoras.
