dc.description.abstractThe aim of this project is to assess whether the fundamentals of irreversible thermodynamics, and in particular the notion of entropy generation, are valid to characterize induced damage due to the capacitive elements of the energy injected to the condenser does not dissipate heat that degrades the component. First, there is a presentation of the general theory of thermodynamics and entropy concept and a brief explanation of how electronic component capacitor. It then describes the experimental method used, all materials used in assembling the bench tests, the system and the data acquisition program developed to collect them. Have evaluated the data with measurements made in testing and have been drawn conclusions that confirm the theory of entropy generation is a valid method to characterize the damage induced by capacitive elements of the injected energy capacitor that does not dissipate heat that degrades the component. Finally, a detailed budget for materials and labor of this project is presented and a proposal is made for possible future studies as a continuation of this project.
