Abstract
In conventional electrical systems, the generators are located far from the load centers. However, considering the distributed generation, the impact of harmonic distortion in the generators cannot be neglected. Thus, this article presents an analysis of the impact caused by harmonic currents in the voltage generated by distributed synchronous generators. Results show that, although the harmonic distortion level increases with the proximity to non-linear loads, the highest harmonic current level is not enough to affect the field current in order to result in a distortion of the electromotive force generated by the synchronous machine.
