El punt àlgit d’expressió física de la societat actual es materialitza en la ciutat, objecte de pensament i reflexió constant al llarg de la història que materialitza el consens d’una gran diversitat d’agents i disciplines partíceps de la realitat humana col·lectiva.
La producció literària, filosòfica i tècnica al voltant d’aquesta idea resulta doncs profundament prolífica. La ciutat i el coneixement avancen en paral·lel, reflexantse i nodrint-se mutuament, és per això que la metodologia de pensament radical explorada dins el gènere de la Utopia esdevé un moviment d’especial interès, pel seu caràcter revolucionari i la seva capacitat de canvi i trencament amb les dinàmiques establertes, en pro de l’evolució.
El següent treball es proposa analitzar l’obra que va consolidar el gènere, la Utopia de Tomàs Moro, publicada el 1516. Els següents capítuls desgranaràn el model d’ordenació territorial i urbana proposat al relat aparentment literàri de caràcter filosòfic des d’una mirada tècnica amb l’objectiu d’evaluar la verossimilitud projectual de la visió d’Utopia, definir-la gràficament i evaluar-ne les possibles influències i llegats que la situen com una de les produccions més revolucionaries de la història del pensament occidental. Reivindicant el valor del pensament crític radical com a eina projectual i fonamental per a l’evolució del projecte urbà.
We understand the city as a critical point of the phisical expression of society, constant subject of study throughout the history of human thought that formalizes the consensual agreement of a wide diversity of both agents and disciplines involved in the colective reality of humanity.
The literary, philosophic and technical production on the matter is, hence, deeply prolific. Proof that city and knowledge evolve hand by hand, reflecting and nourishing each other. It is then for this reasons that the radical thought explored within the Utopy genre becomes of special interest, due to its revolutionary essence, its ability to break with the status quo, in benefit of evolution.
The following paper aims to analyze the book that established the genre, Thomas More’s Utopia, published in 1516. The following chapters will break down the land ordinances, and urban vision proposed in the theoretically literary book with a technical view in order to evaluate the potential influences and legacies that define his work as one of the main revolutionary instances within the occidental school of thought. Defending the value of critical, radical thought as projectual methodology, fundamental for the evolution of the urban project.
