Airport system capacity analysis

Abstract

The objective of this project is to analyze the capacity of the airport system and how its limits are being assimilated as a direct consequence of the continuous increase in demand. This analysis will address the main determinants of airport capacity, as well as different theoretical proposals to address the effects of airport system saturations in order to find viable solutions to improve both the capacity and efficiency of some airports, enhancing the passenger experience and the business performance of airlines. Finally, the case of the Josep Tarradellas Barcelona - El Prat airport will be studied and the feasibility of implementing some of the ideas proposed in this paper will be analyzed.
