Abstract
Journalism is one of the most important sources of information today [8], as the majority of the population is informed about current affairs through it. The problem is that behind these media many interests can distort the main objective of journalism: objectivity and neutrality. [9] This leads to profound moral implications such as the manipulation of people’s way of thinking, the concealment of certain events, etc. That is why there must be control or regulation over the media to ensure that all of the above does not happen. Previously all this work had to be done manually, but nowadays we have tools that facilitate the analysis to the point of being able to do it automatically. From here comes the objective of this thesis, to create a tool that is capable of analyzing newspaper articles and providing as output the bias of the same. To do this, machine learning techniques will be applied to a database with articles from different American newspapers.
