dc.description.abstract | 3D printing is a layer-by-layer manufacturing process with great potential in a large number of areas, for instance in technological and biomedical fields. Specifically, the Material Extrusion (MEX) technique, also known as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), has generated interest in industry and research due to its capabilities for manufacturing complex geometries. The purpose of this investigation is the characterization of inter and intra layer bondings created in four elastomeric thermoplastics of different polymer bases used in MEX. These copolymers are of great utility due to their good mechanical behavior and deformation ability. In this study, three manufacturing parameters have been considered: layer height, extrusion speed and temperature. The results show differences in behavior between copolymers and a strong influence of these manufacturing parameters: there is an existing relationship between printing velocity and extruding temperature. The presented methodology has proven to be an effective tool to identify the effects of parameters on filament bonding. |
