Abstract
Every refrigeration cycle it's composed of four fundamental elements: a condenser, an evaporator, an expansion valve and a compressor. The condenser is basically a heat exchanger, its main function is to extract heat from the fluid that enters in it as vapor until it returns to a liquid state. The main objective of this project is to discover if changing the geometry of the condenser and making it conical accelerates the condensation process. To do it first of all we will make a research and find if there already are studies that support our theory, after that we will do our own numerical analysis of how the diminution of the area affects the heat exchange and finally we will realize many simulations using SolidWorks Flow Simulation to make sure if our theory is true or not. We have obtained favorable results, we found studies about the use of conical condenser in Rotating Heat Pipes in which it is verified that the rate of heat transfer is higher compared in those ones that use cylindrical condensers; by means of our own calculations we have verified the initial theory and at last, all the simulations carried out gives us the result that the conical condenser effectively cools the refrigerant faster that a conventional condenser, specifically an average of 3.12 times faster.
