Abstract
In the past years, there has been a sudden increase in renewable generation. This is leading to several technical issues in traditional grids which result in curtailments. In other words, the network is not able to absorb all the power that is being generated. In order to solve this problematics, electrical grids must be reinforced, but this often leads to over- dimensioning of the distribution grids. Therefore, traditional and recent advances in distribution grid planning are analysed and possible alternative applications with large scale battery storage systems are reviewed. The aim of this paper is to look for the technologies that build up the optimal solution to this issues. Followed by the planification of a business model of this solution
