Abstract
Mechanical uniaxial tensile strain affects the performance of high power laser diode bars (LDBs) inducing changes in the properties of the laser emission. Properties such as temperature tunning coefficient, far field divergence, polarization, threshold current and slope efficiency are altered. In this work we study how those variations happen and if the behaviour correlates with studies carried out to date. The experimental results seem to coincide with the stipulations regarding the variations depending on the position of emitters in the bars. However, when we variate the uniaxial tensile stress applied there are not correlations in our results, and therefore this question needs to be analysed in more detail.
