Abstract
The non-stop advanced intemationalization and evolution of markets and processes continuously add to the complexity of supply chains, along with an increased pressure to improve the sustainability of processes and optimize their efficiency. In a world that is increasingly demanding to have the right product at the right time and place, transportation is one of the most fundamental activities within a supply chain. Given this importance, there is a continuous pursuit of optimization opportunities in this area that can directly contribute to an increased efficiency of the supply chain as a whole. This work addresses the important key aspect of any retail business that tries to create a new space in a big competitive share market by adding the value where at the moment, many businesses don't: its last mile reserve logistic transportation chain. Giving specific focus on the challenges it encompasses when trying to incorporate transportation in a not so traditionary way. Hence, the work presents a problem introduction with further analysis of the last mile reverse logistics chain by creating a new transportation carrier and doing its expansion to the most populated regions ofEurope and United Kingdom, specifically, where the most demand lies. Afterwards, a more complete problem statement, along with information and collection of data is presented, the different approaches followed to resolve the problem, as well as the outputs that will be useful for NBU - the fiction company we're aiming to launch and expand - and the results of those approaches, which are then further analyzed and commented. Lastly, key performance indicators are measured to ensure the success of NBUby tracking all the key elements and pillars that make this carrier a top performer and the number one choice for any retail business that tries to overcome its competition by setting the customer experience standards to the top level. For the sake of this project, the conducted study will be structured based upon an already stablished major retailer that will provide all the needed data. Therefore, the pilot scenario will be designed for such La internacionalització avançada i l'evolució ininterrompuda dels mercats i processos s'afegeixen contínuament a la complexitat de les cadenes de subministrament, juntament amb una pressió creixent per millorar la sostenibilitat dels processos i optimitzar la seva eficàcia. En un món que exigeix cada cop més tenir el producte adequat en el moment i el lloc adequats, el transport és una de les activitats més fonamentals dins d'una cadena de subministrament. Donada aquesta importància, hi ha una recerca contínua d'oportunitats d'optimització en aquest àmbit que poden contribuir directament a una major eficiència de la cadena de subministrament en el seu conjunt. Aquest treball aborda l'aspecte clau important de qualsevol negoci que intenti crear un nou espai en un gran mercat de quotes competitives afegint el valor on de moment moltes empreses no ho fan: la seva cadena de transport logístic inversa de última milla. Donant un focus específic als reptes que engloba a l'hora d'intentar incorporar el transport d'una manera no tant tradicional. Per tant, el treball presenta una introducció al problema amb una anàlisi posterior de la cadena logística inversa de l'última milla mitjançant el seguiment de tots els elements i pilars clau que fan d'aquesta companyia un millor rendiment i l'opció número u per a qualsevol negoci que intenti superar la seva competència establint els estàndards d'experiència del client per a un nivell superior.
