Abstract
This project was born from the necessity to automate the processes of a company in order to increase efficiency, reduce manual workload and ensure resources are focused on value added activities. The objective of this project was to prove the economic viability of the TMS implementation and also prove how TMS is able to solve the issues presented by the company. To do that, during this project I have explained and analyzed how a Transport Management System is implemented and what are its main benefits. Moreover, I have performed a Business Case with a set of 306 deliveries which I have combined to create a planification which reduces the number of trucks and uses a carrier aligned with the tariffs. Furthermore, I have studied the economic and environmental impact of my planification. In addition, I have optimized the deliveries with the TMS implemented to see how TMS combined the deliveries and I have studied the further economic and environmental improvement that TMS provides compared to my planification. I have extrapolated the results of the Business Case to all the UK region to study the economic viability and the environmental impact of the implementation. From the data extracted from the Business Case and the deep study of the TMS performed I have concluded that the TMS implemented is able to meet the requirements imposed by the company as the processes have been automated and the information has been centralized, there has been a high improvement on visibility and a total of 1.6 million euros in savings is achieved, distributed along the 3 years that the implementation lasts. Therefore, we can conclude that the implementation is economically viable and also that it carries a lot of benefits for the company, as it can be seen along the thesis
