Abstract
This project is meant to be an assessment of the energetic viability of a radiant floor heating and cooling acclimatization system of an airport terminal located in a Mediterranean climate zone. In the first chapter of this project context about radiant installations will be given. Its historical background, basic mechanics, the definition of the several types of radiant surfaces on the market and also its legislative frame will also be mentioned with the sole purpose of giving the reader the essential knowledge to comprehend the following chapters. Pros and drawbacks of this building solution will be commented as well. In a second part the object of this study is going to be defined, the airport terminal that will bear the installation is going to be thoroughly described. Detail is going to be given about its architectonical and morphological features with its given explanation justified, mainly, by aeronautical reasons. In this chapter we will also detail the climate stage where the terminal is placed, a key factor in order to assess a correct installation. Finally, once the object of study has been presented, the following and last chapter will break down the installation. Initially, it will show the calculus methodology that has been followed. Later on, it will define the last step of the solution, the circuits which build up the radiant floor installation. Finally, the reader will be able to check the technical characteristics of the designed system with plenty of detail, including graphic figures and technical results which let us assess the consumption and viability of the installation.
