dc.description.abstractNowadays, lower-limbs impaired people lack the ability to do some quotidian things like reaching objects stored in high places like kitchen cabinets or bookshelves. This inability frequently implies the adaptation of their whole home according to their necessities as well as the close help of physician assistants or relatives. That is costly and most of the time depends on monetary help provided by the government. Nonetheless, once they leave home, this problem persists. That creates the necessity to adapt, not (only) their home but also their wheelchair. A commercial design of this adaptation of the wheelchair is yet not easy to find in the market and would reduce the amount of help needed by impaired people in their daily life. The aim of this project is to continue the work done in “Conceptualització i disseny per a la fabricació per impressió 3D d’articulacions posturals per a cadires de rodes motoritzades”, where a mechanism for a wheelchair that allows for impaired people to reach high objects is designed. The project bases in this idea and aims to design the manufacturing process of the parts that conform this mechanism. Furthermore, the microeconomic impact in the impaired person and macroeconomic impact in the government grants will also be made. The project aims to put into practice the knowledge gained in the subjects of Manufacturing, Industrial Design, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. In this main text, the work done from February to June is presented. Firstly, an initial schematic design in SolidWorks for the mechanism is presented. This design is aimed to be used as a model in order to later design the manufacturing process. Secondly, the instructions to follow in order to build each part of the mechanism are found. These instructions are accompanied with images in order to make the explanation clearer to the reader. Next, the costs of building the wheelchair, €4574.77, are explained. Later, the environmental impact analysis is presented, which concludes emissions of 215 Kg of CO 2 per wheelchair. Finally, a model of the microeconomic impact analysis of the wheelchair as well as a study can be read.
