L'objectiu del Grup de Recerca en Tecnologia d'Estructures és contribuir a la millora del projecte, anàlisi, construcció i avaluació d'estructures, tant de nova planta com estructures existents de formigó armat i pretesat, acer, fusta i maçoneria, com ara ponts, edificis, preses, dipòsits i construccions històriques. Amb aquest objectiu es busca desenvolupar materials, mètodes de càlcul, processos de producció, sistemes estructurals, procediments de construcció, mètodes de construcció, tècniques d'avaluació, reparació i reforçament i sistemes estructurals nous, així com millorar les prestacions dels existents. Amb aquesta finalitat es desenvolupen models conceptuals i numèrics que es validen experimentalment mitjançant assaigs a gran escala sobre elements i estructures al Laboratori de Tecnologia d'Estructures, així com la realització de proves de càrrega i el monitoratge d'estructures in situ.

The objective of the Structural Technology Research Group is to contribute to improvements in the analysis, design, construction and evaluation of new and existing reinforced and prestressed concrete, steel, wood and masonry structures, such as bridges, buildings, dams, tanks and historic buildings. The aim is to develop new materials, production processes, structural systems and construction management procedures and new methods for the analysis, design, construction, assessment and retrofit of structures, as well as the improvement of existing ones. For that purpose, conceptual and numerical analysis models are developed and experimentally validated using the large-scale testing facilities at the Structural Technology Laboratory or by the on-site monitoring of structures.
