Abstract
As an international specialist for centrifugal pumps EDURs mission is to offer its customers high quality pumps with emphasis on customer support beyond the sales point. To this end EDUR offers a smooth and fast delivery with custom made packaging of the highest standards. To achieve the same high standard but at the same time increase their environmental efforts to offer a sustainable packaging experience EDUR commits to recreating their packaging process from the first movement of the pump after painting to the last push into the delivery truck. For this, EDUR organized a project together with the EPS program to completely overhaul the packaging process. This team of students researched and designed their own packaging area layout, standardized boxes and integrated new sustainable and reusable options. Based on an in-depth analysis and reviewed discussion, the team created a selection of wrapping machines, strapping tools, two new sustainable materials that go hand in hand with the new machinery as well as five different layout solutions with their own transportation solution. These results indicate that the team will reach a satisfying solution for EDUR that will offer the packaging experience needed for the international competitive environment.
