Our research is oriented toward non-linear control systems, and particularly toward non-linear control of power electronics converters and systems. Controllers are implemented by means of analog or digital solutions, using in this case, digital signal processors. Our research group is specialized in Uninterruptible Power Systems, Active Filters, Multilevel Converters, etc. Our research results are transferred to private companies, and supported by contract.

A comprehensive methodology for the statistical characterization of solar irradiation: application to the case of Morocco
(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, 2023-03-06)
Article
Open AccessThe prediction and characterization of solar irradiation relies mostly on either the use of complex models or on complicated mathematical techniques, such as artificial neural network (ANN)-based algorithms. This mathematical ... -
Analysis of gas turbine compressor performance after a major maintenance operation using an autoencoder architecture
(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2023-01-21)
Article
Open AccessMachine learning algorithms and the increasing availability of data have radically changed the way how decisions are made in today’s Industry. A wide range of algorithms are being used to monitor industrial processes and ... -
Improving voltage imbalance in inverter-based islanded microgrids during line-to-line short circuits
(2023-08-19)
Article
Open AccessLine-to-line short circuits are the transient disturbances that cause the highest currents as well as the largest voltage imbalances in inverter-based microgrids. This paper presents a control scheme for grid-forming ... -
Economic and regulatory uncertainty in renewable energy system design: a review
(2023-01-12)
Article
Open AccessRenewable energy is increasingly mobilizing more investment around the globe. However, there has been little attention to evaluating economic and regulatory (E&R) uncertainties, despite their enormous impact on the project ... -
Passivity based control of four-switch buck-boost DC-DC converter without operation mode detection
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2022)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyThis paper presents a passivity-based control approach for four-switch buck-boost (FSBB) DC-DC converters. The state variables are selected as the inductor current and the capacitor voltage errors. The passivity based ... -
Maximum current injection method for grid-forming inverters in an islanded microgrid subject to short circuits
(2023-02-03)
Article
Open AccessIn islanded microgrids, when a short circuit or a sudden overload occurs, it provokes an abrupt increment in the currents supplied by the generation nodes, which feed the load collaboratively. This is particularly challenging ... -
An experimental approach for secondary consensus control tuning for inverter-based islanded microgrids
(2023-01-03)
Article
Open AccessA microgrid is a group of interconnected loads and distributed energy resources that can fill the gap between the dependence on a bulk power grid and the transition to renewable energies. The islanded mode presents itself ... -
Mitigation of voltage sags with electric-vehicle based microgrids in large parking lots
(2022)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyThis paper presents a real-time control strategy for electric-vehicle based microgrids to mitigate voltage sags in large parking lots. It is programmed into the digital processors of the battery chargers and consists on ... -
Optimizing voltage support using electric vehicles in an islanded microgrid under voltage sags
(2022)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyThe number of electric vehicles connected to the grid is growing constantly due to environmental and regulatory issues. Using these connected vehicles as distributed generators is a promising future functionality, known ... -
Voltage support using electric vehicles in an islanded resistive-microgrid under voltage sags
(2022)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyThe number of electric vehicles connected to the grid is growing constantly due to environmental and regulatory issues. Conventionally these vehicles work as variable loads, although using them as distributed generators ... -
Collaborative voltage unbalance compensation in islanded AC microgrids with grid-forming inverters
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2022-04-25)
Article
Open AccessThe presence of unbalanced loads in power systems creates voltage imbalances that perturb the operation of sensitive loads like induction motors, power electronics converters and adjustable speed drives. This paper presents ... -
