Abstract
XIX i s. XX. The rehabilitation of industrial buildings is a strategy increasingly used in the transformation of Barcelona, a city that changed radically, like other European capitals, with the arrival of industrialization and modernism during the s. XIX and s. XX. The industrial complexes were developed in the most peripheral areas, taking advantage of the connection with the ports and the layout of the canals, this is how the working-class neighbourhoods were born and the districts that today delimit the city too. The Sant Martí district is where some of these neighbourhoods and, in consequence, the factories with a relevant history for the Barcelona we know today. These architectures are still preserved thanks to the citizen movement, involved in the protection of the industrial heritage and the will of the different architects to help achieve a new opportunity for the buildings to continue working and serve a city that has been changing. This work includes different project strategies into a catalogue based on the previous analysis of these industrial architectures in the Sant Martí district, investigating the history, the repercussions on society and the territory and, finally, the synthesis of the different changes detected that affect the form and intention of the new project.
