Abstract
The purpose of this project is to analyze what has been the effect on the urban heat island of Barcelona over the decrease in the traffic during the lock down months of March and April 2020 as a result of the pandemic Covid-19. The main goal is to analyze the intensity of the urban heat island of the Barcelona city in a given night time slot and compare it with the situation of the last nine years. Thanks to the data by the Catalan Meteorological Service, an attempt has been made to answer the following questions. What effect has reduced mobility had on the urban heat island? How has the decrease in traffic contributed to the reduction in temperature? Finally, after all the exhaustive study, it can be concluded that the decrease in vehicle traffic during confinement was one of the many factors that decreased the temperature difference by a certain percentage, resulting in a variation the heat island urban.
