Abstract
This research aims to focus on the ephemeral culture in architecture, mainly based on examples of British
ludic architecture. It’s intended to present this temporary architecture as a new conception of free time
spaces.
Magnets, Cedric Price's last project, consisted of ten short-lived structures intended to provide public
services and create new patterns of public movement. These interventions, that included stairways,
promenade, arcade and pier were intended to improve access on an urban scale and were designed as
temporary, mobile structures in the public space. The objective of these structures is to improve the views of
the landscape and create new public spaces, as well as to increase the existing one’s activity.
The research is based on the study of the temporal environment, and the types of connection that Magnets
offer, as well as a graphic analysis of the elements that generate its mobile and ephemeral nature.
