Anàlisi i implementació de bases de dades orientades a columnes

Abstract

La gran majoria de les dades del software d'Abiquo s'emmagatzemen seguint el model relacional. D'aquesta manera es com la plataforma interacciona amb les dades i permet obtenir, crear, editar i esborrar diferents entitats complint amb les propietats ACID. Durant la darrera dècada, amb el creixement dels centres de dades, i degut a les limitacions que presenta el model relacional, noves solucions de gestors de bases de dades han sorgit, amb canvis en el paradigma i arquitectura d'aquests, anomenades generalment de manera agrupada com NoSQL. L'objectiu d'aquest projecte es analitzar i identificar aquells conjunts de dades que poden presentar un coll d'ampolla amb el model relacional, investigar els diferents models de dades NoSQL que existeixen i escollir-ne un, seleccionar una solució software existent concreta per al nou gestor de bases de dades, implementar i analitzar la solució.

Almost all the data in the Abiquo software is stored following the relational model. That is how the platform interacts with data, and allows to obtain, create, edit and delete the different entities while fulfilling the ACID properties. During the last decade, with the growing of datacenters, and because of the limitations that the relational model presents, new solutions for database management have raised, with changes on the paradigm and architecture. Those are commonly called noSQL. The objective of this project is to analyze and identify those sets of data that could be a bottleneck in the relational model, investigate the different noSQL data models that exist and choose one, select an existing software solution in the market for the new database management system, implement it and analyse the solution.
