Mining exploitation is one of the activities with the highest accident rate. According to data provided by the International Labor Organization (ILO), during 2003 this branch presented 8% of total fatal accidents. However, from 2003 to the present, a downward trend has been observed in most countries except China and Russia. This improvement is also observed in Spain, the reason for which is the application of occupational risk prevention laws. However, accident reports have detected a worrying accident rate that has alarmed occupational risk preventionists. This index involves workers with more than five years of seniority.Mining regulations ITC.02.1.02 decrees that training courses have a duration of 20 hours and every 2 or 4 years, the specific part must be repeated, depending on the itinerary. The reason this part of the course is repeated is to try to mitigate this problem. Despite the efforts of the trainers, these rates are not decreasing at all.Given the ineffectiveness of these courses to fully encourage their workers, occupational risk prevention organizations such as NIOSH propose the use of alternatives such as the use of narratives and digital tools. In the search for tools that can train the worker; a virtual reality simulation is determinedto be the most suitable option. This technology allows a 3D representation of a narrative to be developed and the user can experience a personalized and dynamic story. The purpose of this work is to develop an interactive tool that allows training mine workers on the risks that exist in underground mining. This training instrument has been designed using the Unity 3D video game engine. Through a three-dimensional model of a mining gallery with the implementation of objects and actions, an emergency situation is recreated in which the user must occupy the rescue cabin. Along the way, the user learns the causes and preventive measures of five risks (falls to the same level, thermal stress, run over, entrapment by conveyor belt and fire) that must be carried out in order to avoid them. Finally, the tool developed is validated by means of two questionnaires that, applied to a group of mining engineers, evaluate the experience and impressions of the user
