Abstract
Heritage and tourism complement each other. Both have common goals in multiple fields such as socioeconomics, culture, education, entertainment, and territory. This article goes in depth in the specific field of heritage digitalization, or 3D survey, as a tool that allows a common base of information to be accessible to all agents who take part in heritage works, from experts to citizens and tourists. These surveys have specific approaches that depend on each project; however, in general terms, they look to transmit comprehension, respect, worth, care, benefits, and, at the same time, a basic knowledge of information. The projects studied in this publication are organized based on how their 3D models were created and what information they must have. For this study, four points of the 3D models were set, which depend on how they were created based on the aims of the projects, including digital documentation of heritage goods, interactive tools for the dissemination of the heritage knowledge, basic information on heritage intervention and maintenance, and how these surveys
generate physical and audiovisual material that allows museums to have more and better exhibitions. All of this,
explained through specific case studies done by VIMAC at the UPC, is valued among the contributions and aspects to reinforce the idea of inclusive and holistic heritage, reviewing them in relation to processes of sensitivity, valuation, and socialization of cultural heritage.
