LEAM - Laboratori d'Enginyeria Acústica i Mecànica

Numerical study of an active noise barrier
(2017)
Conference lecture
Restricted access - publisher's policyA numerical study was performed to find the best position for error sensors and secondary sources of an active noise barrier. In this paper, a numerical study has been done, using MacDonald's solution, to calculate diffracted ... -
Dynamic representation of excitation sources on construction-induced vibration problems based on multiple harmonic loads applied on the ground
(2017)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyConstruction machinery used in public works is a source of noise and vibration that generate annoyance to the surrounding residential buildings. Thus, prediction of noise and vibration levels that will be induced by these ... -
Seasonal, monthly and daily stratification for annual noise level estimation
(2017)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyAn analysis of temporal stratification was performed in order to improve the accuracy of the annual noise levels estimation by limiting noise sampling to certain periods of time where less variability of the noise data is ... -
Application of dynamic vibration absorbers on a double-deck circular railway tunnel to minimize the radiated vibration energy flow induced by a moving load
(2017)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyThe aim of this study is to investigate the efficiency of Dynamic Vibration Absorbers (DVAs) as a vibration abatement solution for railway-induced vibrations in the framework of a double-deck circular railway tunnel ... -
Annual traffic noise levels estimation based on temporal stratification
(2017-10-19)
Article
Restricted access - publisher's policyThis paper proposes a temporal sampling strategy that increases the accuracy of long-term noise level estimation and allows to establish the estimation error according to the number of sampled days. Days of the week are ... -
Efficient three-dimensional building-soil model for the prediction of ground-borne vibrations in buildings
(2017-09-01)
Article
Open AccessThis paper proposes a new efficient model for the prediction of low-amplitude ground-borne vibrations in buildings. The model takes into account the three-dimensional nature of the building structure by analytical and ... -
Control activo de transmisión de ruido causado por sobrevuelo de aeronaves transmitido por una apertura en fachada
(Sociedad Española de Acústica (SEA), 2013)
Conference report
Open AccessThis paper presents an experimental study based on the active control of sound transmission through narrow opening of a casament window below. The main objective of the paper is to demostrate the feasibility of the ... -
Numerical study of the aerodynamics of sound sources in a bass-reflex port
(Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2017-01-20)
Article
Open AccessThe aim of this paper is to study the aerodynamics phenomena of a bass-reflex port that causes noise in the audible frequency range. After discarding structural and mechanical vibration issues, the hypothesis considered ... -
Study the efficiency of dynamic vibration absorbers in minimizing vibration power flow radiated from a double-deck tunnel
(Deutsche Gesellschaft für Akustik e.V. (DEGA), 2016)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyIn recent years, underground train-induced ground-borne vibrations have become an important issue in heavily populated areas. As they cause not only the material failure but also serious human health problems, various ... -
Optimization of dynamic vibration absorbers placed on the tunnel interior surface to mitigate underground railway-induced vibration
(Sociedade Portuguesa de Acústica, 2016)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyIn the present study, dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) has been introduced as an innovative countermeasure in the field of railway-induced vibration. The Pipe-in-Pipe (PiP) model and Green's functions for a two-and-a-half ... -
Prediction of the isolation efficiency of vibration countermeasures for a double-deck tunnel
(Sociedade Portuguesa de Acústica, 2016)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyDouble-deck tunnels are an innovative tunnel design that has been recently implemented in some underground railways and metro lines worldwide. However, due to the complexity of this type of structures, its dynamic response ...
