Separació de residus domèstica i comercial al municipi de Sant Pere de Ribes

Abstract

La generació i gestió de residus és actualment un assumpte clau en matèria de sostenibilitat de les ciutats i poblacions arreu del món, i resulta un repte complex per als agents involucrats, especialment per als ens locals. Els objectius principals d’aquest projecte són l’estudi de la situació actual del municipi de Sant Pere de Ribes en matèria de residus i la investigació dels hàbits i comportaments dels usuaris a l’hora de separar els residus domèstics i comercials, posteriorment, el disseny d'intervencions basat en evidències per millorar els indicadors de recollida i separació de residus al municipi. Per a definir les fases del desenvolupament d’aquest projecte, s’ha partit de la metodologia Design Thinking. Per a investigar els hàbits i comportaments de la ciutadania i els comerços durant el procés de separació dels residus, s’han fet servir metodologies relacionades amb el disseny centrat en l’usuari També s’han estudiat diversos mètodes relacionats amb el màrqueting socioambiental i s’han introduït mètodes de disseny per al canvi de comportament en les intervencions del projecte. Posteriorment al recull de dades, s’han utilitzat diverses tècniques de síntesi pròpies del disseny centrat en l’usuari, amb l'objectiu de representar de manera visual les dades qualitatives més rellevants de la investigació dels usuaris. Aquestes tècniques han permès principalment identificar els punts febles i crítics durant el procés de separació de residus. Com a proposta final del projecte, un cop analitzats aquests punts febles i crítics i considerant els fonaments del disseny de serveis i les estratègies pel canvi de comportament, s’ha dissenyat tota de deu intervencions que es poden realitzar des de l’Ajuntament de Sant Pere de Ribes per tal de millorar l’experiència dels usuaris i facilitar-los el procés de separació de residus. Els resultats més rellevants obtinguts han sigut aconseguir de dades qualitatives que permetran reforçar la presa de decisions a l’hora de dissenyar intervencions locals per a millorar l’experiència de l’usuari durant el procés de separació de residus i incrementar el nivell de recollida selectiva del municipi.

La finalidad de este proyecto ha sido realizar un análisis sobre la separación de residuos doméstica y comercial del municipio de Sant Pere de Ribes, y el diseño y implementación de intervenciones para mejorar los indicadores de recogida selectiva y separación de residuos en el municipio, además de mejorar la experiencia de usuario durante el proceso de separación. Para investigar los hábitos y comportamientos de la ciudadanía y los comercios durante el proceso de separación de los residuos, se han utilizado metodologías relacionadas con el diseño centrado en el usuario y, como factor relevante, se ha introducido un método basado en el marketing social para cambiar el comportamiento de las comunidades para reducir su impacto ambiental. Estos métodos han permitido identificar los puntos débiles y críticos durante el proceso de separación de residuos y aplicar estrategias para el cambio de comportamiento.

Waste generation and management is currently a key issue in the sustainability of cities and towns around the world and has become a complex challenge for the actors involved, especially for the local councils. The main goals of this project are the study of the current situation in the town of Sant Pere de Ribes in terms of waste and the research of the habits and behaviours of users during the separation of domestic and commercial waste. The other goal is to design local actions based on evidence to improve the recycling and separation rates in the municipality. To define the development phases of the project, it has been used the Design Thinking methodology. To research about the habits and behaviours of citizens and businesses during the waste separation process, methodologies related to user-centred design have been used. Also, various methods related to socio-environmental marketing have also been studied and design methods have been introduced for behaviour change in the project’s actions. Afterwards of collecting data, various synthesis techniques about usercentred design have been used, with the aim of representing through visual resources the most relevant qualitative data from the user research. These techniques have mainly made it possible to identify the weak and critical points during the waste separation process. As a final proposal, after analysing these weaknesses and critical points and considering the fundamentals of service design and strategies for behaviour change, a total of ten local actions have been designed that could be carried out from the Local Council of Sant Pere de Ribes in order to improve the user experience and facilitate the waste separation process. The most relevant results obtained have been the fact of getting qualitative data that will allow to support the decision-making at the time of designing local actions to improve the experience of use during the process of separation of waste and increase recycling rate of the municipality.
