dc.description.abstractGoal of the thesis: The main goal of the thesis was to create a simulation model that captures the thermal behaviour of the bushing used in the production of glass fibres. In particular, the bushing at the RWTH Aachen Institut für Textiltechnik was examined. The study investigates on the temperature distribution in working conditions in order to better understand the thermal behaviour and ultimately to enable the design of new innovative bushings. Approach: The study of the temperature distribution of the bushing was done using the finite elements method. So as to build a simulation model, the thermal parameters of the materials of the system were determined. Inventor and Autodesk CFD were the softwares used to build the geometry and the thermal model respectively. Key results: The simulation model design could not be fully validated. Further improvements are required in the glass modelling.
