Since its creation in 2005, Light Sport Aircraft have become has broken out in the world of aviation to force the organisms that regulate the aviation to write specific regulations for this type of aircraft. In its 12 years of existence, the LSA market has grown thanks to the small companies that are slowly adding oxygen to the aviation sector with little innovations. This project intends to carry out the preliminary design of an aircraft of this style that also possesses aerobatic properties and is capable of breaking the world speed record of 303 km / h established by the Shark UL. In order to carry out this design, the project is divided into several sections that contemplate the main design features of any aircraft such as conceptual design, aerodynamic, structural, propulsive design. In addition, the design carried out is evaluated and the main flying characteristics of the airplane are calculated. Finally, it is concluded that the design obtained is feasible to proceed with the subsequent design phases of an aircraft, with which more precise results will be obtained.
The aim of this project is to design a new single seat semi-aerobatic aircraft which can be certified as Light Sport Aircraft (LSA). Also, the design has to be able to compete in the International Aerobatic Club (IAC) in the intermediate category and break the speed record (303 km/h) for this type of aircraft achieved in 6/2015.
