San Luis-El Campín: memorias de barrio: la historia escrita desde el habitar

Abstract

The following article text is the result of a larger research project named after the title of this text. The neighborhoods San Luis and El Campin, located in Bogota, have been key to understanding the process of urbanization, and also to understanding the history of the city from a multidisciplinary perspective.The phenomena at the beginning of the 20th century that resulted changed the village nature that Bogotá had preserved, such as the emergence of the middle class, a massive urban development for the time that tried to control itself with various administrative reforms and the construction of the first Olympic stadium (Nemesio Camacho "El Campin", allowed the city to be a laboratory to experiment from the urbanism. The phenomena at the beginning of the 20th century that resulted changed the village nature that Bogotá had preserved, such as the emergence of the middle class, a massive urban development for the time that tried to control itself with various administrative reforms and the construction of the first Olympic stadium (Nemesio Camacho "El Campín", allowed the city to be a laboratory to experiment for urbanism. These phenomena allow us to understand how two neighborhoods that emerged after the fourth centenary of Bogota's foundation show to this day clear elements of a modern project that began to emerge in the city and the country.

El presente texto surge de una investigación más grande que lleva como nombre el título de este texto. Los barrios San Luis y El Campín ubicados en Bogotá, han sido clave para entender el proceso de urbanización, y así mismo comprender la historia de la ciudad desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar. Los fenómenos a principio del siglo XX que resultaron cambiaron la naturaleza aldeana que Bogotá había conservado, fenómenos como el surgimiento de la clase media, un desarrollo urbano masivo para la época que intentaba controlarse con diversas reformas administrativas y la construcción del primer estadio olímpico (Nemesio Camacho “El Campín”, permitieron que la ciudad fuera un laboratorio para experimentar desde el urbanismo. Estos fenómenos permiten comprender como dos barrios que surgen después del IV centenario de la fundación de Bogotá muestran hasta hoy en día elementos claros de un proyecto moderno que empezó a surgir en la ciudad y el país.
