Territori i ciutat: el territori com a modelador urbà en la ciutat de Valparaíso

Abstract

La relació entre ciutat i territori és un debat obert i canviant. Durant l’evolució urbana, s’ha pogut veure que els assentaments i creixements han respost a unes preexistències tangibles i intangibles del lloc, quasi mai des d’una tabula rasa. Per tant, entendre com les ciutats han estat influenciades pel suport natural (relleu, clima i hidrografia), pot donar respostes a com la humanitat hauria de dialogar amb l’alteritat.

En aquest sentit, el treball de recerca estudia el paper del territori com a modelador de la morfologia i fenomenologia urbanes en la ciutat de Valparaíso, amb la finalitat d’entendre, en quina mesura, la ciutat ha sigut herència directa del seu territori, juntament amb proposar possibles hipòtesis de desenvolupament urbà.

Durante la evolución urbana, se ha podido ver que los asentamientos y crecimientos han respondido a unas preexistencias tangibles e intangibles del lugar, casi nunca desde una tabula rasa. Por lo tanto, entender cómo las ciudades han sido influenciadas por el soporte natural (relieve, clima e hidrografía), puede dar respuestas a cómo la humanidad debería dialogar con la alteridad.

En este sentido, el trabajo de investigación estudia el papel del territorio como modelador de la morfología y fenomenología urbanas en la ciudad de Valparaíso con el fin de entender, en qué medida, la ciudad ha sido herencia directa de su territorio, junto con proponer posibles hipótesis de desarrollo urbano.

The relationship between city and territory is an open and changing debate. During the urban evolution, it has been seen that the settlements and growths have responded to the tangible and intangible pre-existences of the place, almost never considered from a tabula rasa. Therefore, understanding how cities have been influenced by natural support (topography, climate and hydrography) can provide answers to how humanity would have to dialogue with alterity.

In this sense, my research studies the role of the territory as a model of urban morphology and phenomenology in the city of Valparaíso, in order to understand if the city has been a direct inheritance of its territory, together with proposing possible hypotheses for urban development.
