Biblioteques@upc.edu

E-prints has two aims: it is the UPC's institutional repository, collecting journal articles, conference papers and research reports generated in the research activities of the University's teaching and research staff; and it is a tool for accelerating scientific output by hosting pre-print versions of journal articles and conference papers.

The aim of UPC E-prints is to increase the visibility and accessibility of these documents and ensure their preservation. Members of the UPC who are interested in depositing documents in open-access form should contact Info.Biblioteques@upc.edu

  • Arnold Hauser, Walter Benjamin and the mythologization of history

    Saldaña Puerto, César (2020-06)
    Article
    Open Access
There are conspicuous parallelisms —and symmetries— between the scholarly fates of Walter Benjamin and Arnold Hauser. While the first failed to attain any sort of success during his lifetime, the latter’s instant widespread ...
  • Optimizing sparse matrix-vector multiplication in NEC SX-Aurora vector engine

Gomez Crespo, Constantino; Casas Guix, Marc; Mantovani, Filippo; Focht, Erich (2020-06-26)
    External research report
    Open Access
Sparse Matrix-Vector multiplication (SpMV) is an essential piece of code used in many High Performance Computing (HPC) applications. As previous literature shows, achieving efficient vectorization and performance in modern ...

The Infineon AURIX TriCore family of microcontrollers has consolidated as the reference multicore computing platform for safety-critical systems in the automotive domain. As a distinctive trait, AURIX microcontrollers are ...
  • Strong discontinuities and continuum plasticity models: the strong discontinuity approach

Oliver Olivella, Xavier; Cervera Ruiz, Miguel; Manzoli, O (1999-03)
    Article
    Open Access
The paper presents the Strong Discontinuity Approach for the analysis and simulation of strong discontinuities in solids using continuum plasticity models. Kinematics of weak and strong discontinuities are discussed, and ...
  • On the discrete constitutive models induced by strong discontinuity kinematics and continuum constitutive equations

    Oliver Olivella, Xavier (2000-11)
    Article
    Open Access
On the basis of continuum constitutive models (stress vs. strain), the introduction of strong discontinuity kinematics (considering jumps in the displacement fields across a discontinuity interface) induces projected ...
  • Analysis and prediction of COVID-19 for EU-EFTA-UK and other countries

    Open Access
The present report aims to provide a comprehensive picture of the pandemic situation of COVID-19 in the EU countries, and to be able to foresee the situation in the next coming days. We employ an empirical model, verified ...
  • From continuum mechanics to fracture mechanics: the strong discontinuity approach

Oliver Olivella, Xavier; Huespe, Alfredo Edmundo; Gómez Pulido, M. Dolores; Chaves, E (2002-01)
    Article
    Open Access
The paper deals with the strong discontinuity approach and shows the links with the decohesive fracture mechanics provided by that approach. On the basis of 1D continuum damage models it is shown that, by introducing some ...
  • On the strong discontinuity approach in finite deformation settings

Oliver Olivella, Xavier; Huespe, Alfredo Edmundo; Gómez Pulido, M. Dolores; Samaniego Alvarado, Esteban (John Wiley & sons, 2003-02)
    Article
    Open Access
Taking the strong discontinuity approach as a framework for modelling displacement discontinuities and strain localization phenomena, this work extends previous results in infinitesimal strain settings to finite deformation ...

Oliver Olivella, Xavier; Huespe, Alfredo Edmundo; Samaniego Alvarado, Esteban (John Wiley & sons, 2003-04)
    Article
    Open Access
The work focuses on the presently existing families of finite elements with embedded discontinuities and explores the possibilities of obtaining symmetric statically consistent finite elements that alleviate the stress-locking ...
