Abstract
This paper presents a new method for assessing the bit error probability in a QAM system taking into account thermal noise, multipath distortion and phase Jitter. System signature is calculated for a system without any specific protection against multipath and for an IF equalized system. Minimum phase as well as non-minimum phase type fading are considered.
