El grup GICITED té com a principals línies de treball el desenvolupament de nous materials amb prestacions específiques per al seu ús en construcció, la utilització de materials reciclats i de subproductes, l'ús de metodologies de diagnosis en edificació existent, l'avaluació i millora de l'eficiència energètica, l'anàlisi i millora del comportament al foc dels materials, la simulació computacional i el disseny d'elements dirigits cap a una edificació més sostenible.

La temática del grupo se centra en el campo de la Edificación y, más concretamente, en los materiales de construcción y en la simulación de procesos fisicoquímicos a partir de modelos matemáticos.
Se abordan cuestiones vinculadas a los materiales tradicionales de construcción y a los nuevos materiales de restauración, a los nuevos materiales con prestaciones específicas, a las técnicas de diagnosis no destructivas aplicadas a la edificación existente, al comportamiento de los materiales al fuego y a la simulación computacional de la propagación del fuego.
El enfoque de la investigación es pluridisciplinar, como consecuencia de la formación de los diferentes investigadores y de sus experiencias previas. La aproximación a las problemáticas tratadas se realiza desde los planteamientos teóricos hasta la experimentación en nuestros laboratorios. Se trata de investigación aplicada.
