The A&MP group carries out basic research in physical layer technologies that are devoted to communication systems. Different diversity schemes (i.e. spatial with multiple antennas, in frequency, time or code) are applied to either single user or multiple user transmission. Not only physical layer but also PHY/MAC cross-layer research is taken into consideration. Both, wired and wireless (i.e. mobile and satellite) transmission is considered.

Comparison of linear and widely linear processing in MIMO-FBMC systems
(VDE Conference Publications, 2013)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyThis paper carries out a comparison between two multi-stream techniques aimed for filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) systems based on the offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OQAM). The first option performs linear processing ... -

Wall mitigation techniques for indoor sensing within the compressive sensing framework
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2012)
Conference report
Restricted access - publisher's policyCompressive sensing (CS) for urban operations and through-the-wall radar imaging has been shown to be successful in fast data acquisition and moving target localizations. However, the research work in this area thus ... -
Diversity mdir receiver for space-time dispersive channels
(European Commission, 2000)
Conference report
Open AccessA particular property of the cellebrated MDIR receiver is introduced in this communication, namely, the fact that full exploitation of the diversity is obtained with multiple beamformers when the channel is spatially and ... -
The RCAP: a concept for robust beamforming and high resolution DOA tracking
(IEEE Press, 2000)
Conference report
Open AccessMotivated by the objective of finding a reduced complexity implementation of the EM (estimate and maximize) algorithm, the authors move the concept of alternating projection (AP), reported Ziskind and Wax (1988), to a ... -
Blind beamforming for DS-CDMA systems
(Servicio de Publicaciones Universidad de Vigo, 1999)
Conference report
Open AccessCode Division Multiple Access (CDMA) has been proposed as an efficient access method for cellular and personal communication systems outperforming the classical FDMA and TDMA techniques. But, in contrast to them, CDMA ... -
Fuzzy techniques for robust localization & tracking
(GRETSI SERVICE, 1997)
Conference report
Open AccessThis work addresses the problem of spatial reference estimation in mobile scenarios. Novel techniques based on fuzzy logic are introduced to enhance the performance of a tracking system. Specifically, the model-free ... -

Open AccessThis paper presents experimental results for a Spatial Division Multiple Access cellular mobile communications system. The basestation antenna array testbed used to obtain the results is described in addition to sophisticated ... -
High performance doa trackers derived from paralell low resolution detectors
(IEEE, 1996)
Conference report
Open AccessTraditionally, high resolution spectral direction of arrival (DOA) estimation has been associated with algorithms rather than with a processing scheme or architecture. Motivated by previous work on feasible implementations ... -
High resolution adaptative arrays based on random processing techniques: frequency hopping modulation
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 1995)
Conference report
Open AccessA new architecture for adaptive arrays using frequency hopping modulation is addressed. The resolution of the array and the interference rejection increase substantially applying random processing to the carrier frequency ...
