The purpose of this project is to identify possible solutions to some of the Fire Brigades needs to properly perform their tasks using satellites. The goal is to show that Earth observation is an increasing technology with many potential markets, concreting with the emergencies sector, which is a potential market with many tasks where they can collaborate. The study analyses current state of the art of Earth observation used for emergencies and then goes on with a preliminary study on how some missions could be operated to specifically answer Fire Brigades necessities. Estimations of requirements and costs for these potential missions are part of the scope of the project. The objective of the thesis is to give enough information for planning on how to start using Earth observation for the Catalan Fire Brigade benefit on a more effective way through potential future satellite operations. Also includes a preliminary study of a value-cost model on satellite missions and an extrapolation of the study into other markets.
