The structure of commercial aircraft Boeing 747-8I is represented using 3D CAD software Solidworks and a 1:50 plywood scale model constructed out of laser-cut pieces. This is achieved after research on general construction techniques of modern aircraft structure and in particular the structure of commercial aircraft Boeing 747-8I. Bibliographic resources on its structure are very limited but enough to depict it schematically. The details and number of components of the structure are simplified to further fulfill this purpose.
The objective of this project is twofold. Firstly, a detailed research of the aircraft has to be done in order to create a 3D CAD design of its structure. Secondly, the student will need to sketch the 1:50 scale plans necessary to assemble a model of the aircraft.
