Abstract

The supporting activities have been focused on the logistic area of the aftermarket sales department, specialized in manufacturing replacement parts for different types of vehicles; among these the logistic flow of the remanufactured parts sold to the customer Volvo has been chosen as the subject of the project. The idea was born after the recognition of the limitations and criticalities of the daily logistic flow with the aim to propose improvement and enhancement potential solutions. The topic has been studied and developed in the paper according to the following method. Continental and the overall remanufacturing concept are introduced initially. The specific process observation, analysis, description and representation follow in the successive sections deepening the implemented logistic flow, the business model characteristics, the technical features of the automotive components involved in the program, the layout arrangement of the warehouse. Thus, it has been possible to identify the more critical points following the process flow step by step and discuss the related outcomes. According to the first analysis results the paper introduces improvement proposals and related reasons and justifications. The development of the paper is furthermore supported by relevant and applicable investigations presented from the available literature. In the final section the elaborated proposals are organized and structured according to the economic viability, environmental impact and implementation aspects. According to compliance and privacy agreements and reasons, the real name of the company, of the customers and the sensitive data will not be mentioned during the study.
