dc.description | The objective of this project is twofold. Firstly, a detailed research of the Space Shuttle has to be done in order to create a 3D CAD design of its structure. Secondly, the student will need to sketch the 1:50 scale plans necessary to assemble a model of the Space Shuttle. |
dc.description.abstract | The Space Transportation System, commonly known as Space Shuttle, was a manned reusable spacecraft. developed in the early 70s with the aim of transporting payloads to low Earth orbits. Due to its necessity of being recovered, the vehicle was designed to resist thermal and structural loadings from both atmospheric and space environment. This study is intended to deepen in the Engineering field of structural design, particularly focused in Aeronautics and Astronautics, by way of an analysis for a later 1:30 scale reproduction of the aforementioned spacecraft structural layout. |
